Gary was born in the Brighouse area of the West Riding of Yorkshire in 1952 and he still lives in the area to this day.
He spent the first two years of his working life as a commercial artist at a Bradford based photographic and advertising agency. He then moved on to a major career change which relegated his artistic interest to that of a hobby.
Retiring from real work in 1999, Gary, who is self-taught, became a self-employed artist. He paints as and when the mood takes him, undertaking a small number of commissioned paintings every year for which he welcomes enquiries.
Cars have always been Garys main interest in life and it is no surprise to find that he specialises in motoring subjects, working under the AutoArt banner.
Gary prefers to work with acrylic media on canvas or art board and paints in many styles. He renders his subjects either in realistic scenic settings or as simple car portraits, or even as wild stylised cartoons. Gary also enjoys painting glamorous ladies and occasionally strays into other subject areas such as aircraft and portraiture.
Gary was accepted as a member of the Guild of Motoring Artists in April 2000.
He has his own website at www.autoart-uk.com
